Hillary Clinton at Clark!!

Hello Everyone!

What an exciting day! U.S. Senator and democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke at Clark University today!!! The event was held at the Knellar Athletic center where over 3,500 people from Clark and all over Worcester were present to witness this historic event. The event was kind of last minute as we only found out on Saturday night about Hillary’s visit. Together with Hillary, media from all over the world came to Clark and this has done wonders for Clark’s reputation.

As a volunteer for this event, I had access to the backstage area and thus I got a chance to sit on the bleachers behind Hillary as she spoke! This meant I got to see Hillary from up close and I was on live national television throughout the speech! A once in a lifetime opportunity!

Hillary’s speech was energetic and was clearly aimed at young college students. She talked about numerous issues including her Universal healthcare plan, the economy, and education and of course, the war in Iraq. She received great support from the crowd who cheered at the top of their voices through the speech.

This rally has been part of a series of political talks at Clark: Chelsea Clinton visited Clark on Jan 24th and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s visit (In support of Barack Obama) on Feb 2nd. These political speeches have been, in part, sponsored by Democrats of Clark University student organization with the President, Meagan Covino, playing a key role.

Overall, it was a great day for Clark University as well as the students who got a firsthand look at a presidential candidate, just one day before Election Day.

Well, that’s all from this week. Check in next week for yet another exciting week!

Take Care,

Shyamal

Dear Shyamal,

I work in the Clark University Communications Office. I am working on a story about Hillary’s visit to Clark and what it was like for student’s, staff and faculty who attended the event. This paper is for a class that I’m taking through COPACE. It’s not something that would be published publicly. Would it be possible for me to interview you about this? I can be reached via e-mail or at ext. 7440.

Thank you,
Christine Brown
