Election, Soccer, A Capella, Murder Mystery & more

This week was pretty good.  It was more relaxed than past weeks, as I think I’ve gotten through the mid-term frantic season.  As you may have heard, there was a presidential election on Tuesday.  Barack Obama won.  Clark went pretty crazy that night.  I watched the results as they came in at the Election Party in the Dining Hall.  The groups sponsoring it did a nice job, with food, games, t-shirts and other giveaways to keep all of us engaged.  There were a number of raffles, including Senator McCain and President Elect Obama’s favorite albums.  I was surprised to find out that ABBA’s Greatest Hits and Jay-Z’s Black Album were their favorites.  One of my friends won both CDs.  Here are two pictures from the night, first of the results on the big screen and second, Clarkies watching Senator McCain’s concession speech.  It was cool to be with people from all over the world during such a historic moment.

On Wednesday, I went to see the Clark Men’s Varsity Soccer team take on Wheaton College in the NEWMAC quarterfinal match.  Sadly, the Cougars did not win, and their season ended on a rainy night on the Beaver Street pitch with a final score of 1-0.  I have gone to a bunch of games this year, and saw some impressive performances, so congratulations to them on a good season.  Here’s a blurry picture:

As my fellow Clark Diarist Dan already wrote, the monthly Hillel Midnight Bagel Brunch was on Thursday night.  I was there too and can say that it was a lot of fun to see singing groups from Brandeis and Clark perform, and then eat free food.  Here’s a picture from my seat of Brandeis University’s Jewish Fella A Capella:

On Friday night, there were a couple of movies being shown, but I went to a Murder Mystery program with some friends.  It was in the Grind (basement of the University Center), and included delicious Chinese food from a local restaurant.  This event was an interactive game, where each attendee had a role to play and certain questions to ask other participants.  My position was a gallery employee (the fictitious murdered person was an art collector), so I had to convince people I was innocent.  An interesting event, here is a picture of people participating:

Today, I volunteered at the Worcester Art Museum’s Going, Going, Green! Family Day.  I helped register new members of the museum, then got to play in the dirt, showing kids how to plant tulips.  They were very excited when I told them that they can come back in April and look for the flower that they planted.  Unfortunately, my camera did not make the trip to the museum, but if you’re curious about it, here’s their website: www.worcesterart.org/ .  I’ve been riding the WRTA bus more frequently, so today was a good chance to test my navigational skills and get to and from the Museum.

That’s all for now, Jeremy
