Dining Hall Thanksgiving, International Journey and more

Five things to share from this week.  I spent a decent amount of time in the library, trying to get all of my work under control before going home on Tuesday for Thanksgiving.

Tuesday night was Hillel’s Mizrachi (eastern) night.  This event showcased a number of Middleastern traditions, including belly dancing (pictured below), foods and henna.  It was nice to try new foods and hear new music.

Wednesday was the International Student Association’s International Journey.  This cool event features students from dozens of countries presenting pieces of their cultures to the general student body.  I visited China, Greece, the Nethlerlands, Norway, Romania, Paraguay, Israel, the Carribean, Georgia, Albania, France, India, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and a few other places in about an hour.  Some pictures are included.  I liked hearing about places that I can only hope to visit in my lifetime.  The number of languages spoken on Clark’s campus always amazes me.  After I entered the United States again, it was time for Thanksgiving in the Dining Hall.  This annual meal attracts large crowds, many people off the meal plan pay cash to eat the delicious traditional assortment.  I took a picture of my plate to show what was served.  This meal made me realize how soon the end of Fall Semester really is.  In less than a month from today we’ll all be on Winter break.

Last night, I saw the movie “Wall-E” and Clark’s production of “As Bees in Honey Drown.”  Both were entertaining.  Wall-E had a solid message about sustainability and human laziness/wastefulness.  It was cool to see some people I knew in the play.  Memorizing so many lines always impresses me.  By checking out all of these campus events, I learn about the student body’s talent.  The play was about a woman who manipulates emerging celebrities into paying for her extravagant lifestyle (for a better, more thorough description, go see it!).

Off to the library,

Jeremy
