As Jeremy has written about, we had the International Journey this Wednesday. It is an annual event organized by International Student Association. It is a great feast for people to experience the rich culture and history of countries all over the world. There were about 20 countries this year, and students presented through posting pictures, crafts, serving food, and sharing stories. Everyone got a map of the world with clues directing us to figure out “where we are in the world” before entering the main hall. And we could figure out the treasure of the world tracing the map. It was a lot of fun. Last year, I represented China. And I decided to be a visitor this time, and handed over the job to freshmen. They did a great job planning and organizing. We had Chinese paintings, calligraphy improvisation, traditional costume show, Chinese style paper-cut, green tea, and desserts such as Ma Hua (a twisted fried cake), Sha Qi Ma (a sweet soft egg dissert originated in Qing Dynasty). I visited Japan, Sri Lanka, Albania, Romania, Caribbean islands, American, and etc. I was amazed that the foods are mostly cooked by students themselves. The chicken at Hawaii, Vietnamese spring roll, and Thai rice with coconut topping are my favorites. The girl from Sri Lanka wrote my name in her language, Sinhala, and it looks more like a picture to me rather than words. The guy from Georgia was extraordinary enthusiastic at introducing his country’s beautiful landscapes.

I went to the Thanksgiving dinner in café after the International Journey. Thanksgiving dinner is the most abundant and delicious meal in café during the year, and of course, the most crowded time. Great hams, turkeys, mashed potatoes, all kinds of desserts, apple juice were served, and there were always people waiting in line to get a plateful. The decoration in the café was giving a warm feeling of home, also, it indicated that it is already the end of the year and winter is coming. Time at Clark went by so fast that sometimes I still tell people that I am a freshman by mistake. Now, I am expecting my second Christmas in US.

Clark’s improv troupe “The Peapod Squad” showed this weekend. They won the Boston Beanpot College Bowl Tournament for the second time in three year. I could not make the performance on Thursday due to my exam, but my suitemates who went all highly recommended it to me saying it was quite entertaining. Luckily, they had another show on Friday night. It was amusing that the humorous performers popped up funny and creative words and actions all the time. Their acting even inspired me to take a theatre arts course. All the audience was quite into the show and enjoying the laughs.
