So this week was yet another ISA (International Students Association) event. It was the annual International Journey bazaar where people representing different regions of the world are given a budget to put together a stall-type table where they display information and show pictures or videos about their respective countries. They also have traditional dishes, most of them home cooked, to give people a flavour of the food they eat in their countries. We had several countries and regions represented this year including Japan, Nepal, the Caribbean, India, Georgia, Palestine, Israel, Paraguay, The Netherlands, Germany and even the USA. The theme was a whole play of Indiana Jones and hidden treasurers of the world, so several of us E-board wore Indiana Jones adventurers’ type clothing complete with hat and whip!! There was a lot of really delicious food and we even had an Israeli dance performance which was great to watch.
Later that week we had a pop quiz in my elementary Arabic class to write all the numbers from 0 to 99 both their numerical symbols and written out in Arabic. Needless to say, this did take some time to do and I can’t quite guarantee that I go them all right, but it was quite an accomplishments when I finished, and I know its only numbers but for the rest of my life I will be able to recognise almost any Arabic number, which come to think of it, may come in handy when you need to check the prices of things if you ever travel to the North Africa or the Middle East which I hope to do as some point.
Next week is Thanksgiving break so I will not be writing an entry, but I am hoping it will be great. Several of my friends are staying behind so that we can go skiing at some point next week and have a ‘Clark Family’ thanksgiving dinner for everyone who is still on campus. Basically this is our time to catch up on work we may have fell behind on and start studying for those dreaded finals!!! I fly back to Namibia on the 16th of December which is roughly under 3 weeks so I can’t wait to go home. It is summer in the southern hemisphere, so it is always funny to go to the airport with my thick winter coat and come out of the plane on the other side in nothing but a t-shirt and shorts.
See you guys after thanksgiving break, which also happens to be the week of my Hip Hop Collabo show so will be sure to fill you in on how it went as well as get some really cool pictures and links of the performance. Byeeeee
