This week was pretty busy for me. There were a lot of different events going on. Thursday night I went to Clark’s production of “As Bees in Honey Drown”. But since Darcey already covered that I won’t say much more, only that it was a really great play and my friend Precious had a great performance.
Friday night I went to the Peapod Squad show. The Peapod Squad is Clark’s improv group that puts on a few shows a semester and also travels to different improv competitions around New England. They had just returned from winning the Boston Beanpot College Bowl. Their shows are always entertaining and wicked funny. I try and go to all their shows because I enjoy them so much.
Sunday I had my monthly SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) meeting. We discussed some end of the semester events and then afterward we went over to the Kneller Athletic Center for the annual Dodgeball Tournament. The Dodgeball Tournament is put on by the “Intra-team Support Committee” of SAAC. Their purpose is to promote athletes supporting athletes.
Athletes from each of Clark’s seventeen Varsity athletic teams came out for the event and formed into teams. Last year my team, the softball/baseball team, were the champions of the entire tournament and were rewarded with gift certificates to a local pizza place. But this year the winning team was getting Dodgeball Champion T-shirts so everyone was much more competitive.
This year the softball team was combined with the field hockey team to form “Team Wage” (because Linda Wage coaches both of these sports). In the first round of the tournament we defeated “Team H20” aka the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team. So we advanced to the semi-finals where we played “Team Baseketball” aka the girl’s basketball and baseball team. Unfortunately we lost to them (and I’m still convinced they cheated!) and they ended up beating the men’s lacrosse team in the finals to become this year’s Dodgeball Championship team. Although I’m still a little bitter because we lost, it was still tons of fun and I can’t wait to reclaim our title again next year.
