First week of December

Everyone is back from Thanksgiving Break by now.  It’s always fun to hear about people’s traditions and how those who went home enjoyed catching up with friends and family.  I had some camera trouble this week, so there aren’t many pictures, but I’ll still tell you about a few events.  By the way, I’m in the library right now, taking a break from some papers to write about my week.  It’s pretty crowded in here, being a Sunday night approaching Finals Week.  Also, it snowed last night.  Not a lot, but some stuck on the grass.

I went to a meeting of Philosophy Club on Wednesday evening.  One of my friends was giving a talk and an interesting discussion ensued.  The club is pretty informal, so it’s a good place to hone your views on life and other important things.  Also that night, a band called Deer Tick performed in the University Center.  They were good and bluesy.  Their singer reminded me of Van Morrison a little bit, so that was cool.  I played fooseball with people during a few songs.  I could use some practice, but did alright, winning some, losing some.

Clark’s Hip Hip Collabo had their Fall Semester show on Friday and Saturday night.  I was impressed as usual by their great coordination, athleticism and tight senses of rhythm.  Here are two (dark) pictures.  My favorite song of the night was “What’s Going On.”

Earlier on in the night, two friends introduced me to a Chinese Buffet down the street.  I was amazed by all of the different entrees and did quite a bit of experimenting.  Nothing beats unlimited crab legs, in my opinion.  On Saturday night, I went to Barnes and Noble in Blackstone Valley Shopping Center to wrap gifts for Worcester Habitat for Humanity with a friend.  When people bought gifts, they could bring them to our table for us to wrap up, then leave a donation for Habitat.  It was slow but nice to relax and read new magazines.

Today, I got up, ate, went to the library for a while, went to a Pilates class (good & tough), then saw the Worcester Sharks beat the Portland Pirates 4-2 in stunning AHL action at the DCU Center.  No fights to report about this time, but the Shark’s 4th goal was great, in the dying seconds with the Portland goal keeper off the ice from just inside the half.  Now it’s time to get back to researching displaced French Jews after World War II.

Have a good week,

Jeremy
