Super Bowl and AHL All Star Game

This week began with a big sporting event and is ending (right now) with an even bigger one.  On Monday night, Worcester’s DCU Center hosted the American Hockey League’s All Star game.  The game was between Canadian-born and American-born players, so Team USA and Team Canada were the sides.  Besides a number of wonderful “USA” chants, I enjoyed seeing the mascots from every team in the building.  During half time, there was a mascot hockey game, where my hometown mascot, the Albany River Rats’ Rowdie Rat assisted on a goal!  Team USA ended up scoring 14 goals and winning.  p1010952-large.JPG  p1010953-large.JPG p1010955-large.JPG  p1010956-large.JPG   p1010968-large.JPG

During the week, I had an intramural basketball game, asked Student Council for funding and baked cookies for a class.  The Residential Life and Housing team lost, as usual, but we had a lot of fun.  None of us are very good at basketball, so we’re fine losing.  I am a co-chair of Just Do It Day, which is an annual day of service throughout Worcester put on by the Making a Difference Scholars.  We approached the Student Council Grants Committee for funding of our special t-shirts, food and equipment to use in the commnity. As the day approaches (first Saturday in April), you will hear more about it.  I learned how to make sugar cookies on Wednesday night.  In my class, the National Imagination (CMLT130), we are learning about Argentina.  Every week, a couple of people bring in food, because we have a break in the middle of the 3 hour class.  This week, a couple friends and I made blue, yellow and white cookies because of the Argentinian flag.

The Super Bowl is into the 2nd quarter now.  I’m about to go to the Dining Hall to eat dinner and watch Bruce Springsteen on the huge screen.  Current score for those of you who are reading Clark Diaries instead of watching the Super Bowl: Pittsburgh 10, Arizona 7.

Have a great week,

Jeremy
