Date Auction, Hip Hoppers and Host Selections

photo.jpghip-hopphoto.jpgphoto-3.jpgHey EveryoneWelcome to the second week of February. I mentioned before that I dance hip hop, and this week my friend who works with the Clark Mentoring programing asked if we wanted to take part in a fun activity for the students involved. The Mentor program is a program for High-school students from the local worcester area to team up with a College student to experience the fun side of college and get involved with the types of student clubs and programs that are available to college students. This not only allows High-schools students to experience college life but it also motivates them to come to college. Some members of  Hip hop collabo performed several routines before we taught them 8 counts of last year’s introduction piece. The children were really impressed with our dancing, and although they all were full of enthusiastic to learn, some just had natural hidden talents. Throughout the last two weeks we, the international Students Association, have been picking the hosts for the Gala. Basically clark students would come in, read a very dull script in a hopefully original and exciting way, then answer a few questions on themselves.  The ones who made it passed the first audition would be called back for a second audition where they were required to prepare their own script with something interesting, fun and gala-related. We chose a total of 6 host, 3 guys and 3 girls. It took a 3 hours to decide on the final pick but I think we chose a pretty dynamic group of students who will hopefully become the audience connection to what is happening on stage. Valentines day is just around the corner and in the spirit of “giving” on these holidays, my friend Paul from the Clark Choir asked if I was willing to auction myself off at the annual Date auction. Basically you are required to go to the annual Masquerade Valentines Dance with the person who bids the highest for you. All the money went to supporting the Clark choir, who are a student choir here are Clark that perform at several all over the U.S and the world. Contrary to my all-too-flattering introduction I was sold for $15 to my friend Tamanna who was is a  some kind of low-scale bidding war with some of my other friends. They opted to split me three ways apparently, stating that they expect me to be a very wonderful valentines date, and their not letting me off the hook just because we all haven to be great friends. The Ball is this saturday, and it is always a spectucle. With Chocolate foutnains, mocktails and great DJ. Keep you posted.
