Masquerade Ball and more

Hello everybody,

This week was pretty busy, lots of business to take care of, plus getting over a cold.  My week began on Monday at 8am when I entered a local high school, the Claremont Academy, to observe a class for one of my education classes.  This was one of my first “field work” experiences and will not be my last.  From now until the end of the year, I’ll be watching an AP US History class once a week to see how it’s done.

On Tuesday night, there was a Hillel event for the Israeli Election.  People presented about each of the parties and a mock vote was held at the end of the program.  As in reality, the Kadima Party won in our vote.  I was happy to see a good turnout of students with differing opinions of Middle Eastern politics.  After the vote, it was promptly to the library for me, because of a lot of reading that had to be done for class the next day.

The rest of the week went by quickly, with meetings for Just Do It Day continuing.  Student Council will vote on our funding this week, so keep your fingers crossed!  On Satuday, I was part of a student panel discussion for Presidential Scholars who were accepted to Clark.  It was fun to hear what questions students (and parents, of course) had about Clark and Worcester.  Hopefully they’ll all become Clarkies next year.  I talked to some after and they were very nice.  At night, the annual Masquerade Ball was held in Tilton Hall.  It had a 1920’s gangster theme, so a lot of people in cool costumes were there.  There was a big picture of Don Corleone overlooking the dance floor.  A lot of students came out, upward of 400 in my estimate, so the room got pretty warm.

Today my parents came to visit.  We went out to lunch and then my mom bought out Trader Joe’s Shrewsbury location.  Now I’m going to work on an essay for tomorrow and hopefully go see a band play later tonight.

Have a good week,

Jeremy
