Hello everybody,
I can’t believe the weekend is already coming to an end. The weather was pretty nice yesterday, but today is rainy – good library weather. This week, I did a few unusual things, along with classes and homework.
On Wednesday night, I went to the Undergraduate Student Council Meeting to see how the Council voted on the budget for Just Do It Day. They voted to give us the full requested amount, which is a big worry off my chest. Now we can go ahead and plan a great day on April 4th. It was my first time attending a Student Council meeting at Clark. They read through last week’s minutes, approved the budget for the Power Shift Climate Change conference in Washington DC, which is next weekend, then voted on our request. This week is big for Student Council, because the polls opened yesterday for elections. A lot of campaign posters are up around campus and I’m curious to see who came out on top.
On Thursday night, as part of V-Week (against Violence against Women), the annual Jonas Clark Stair-a-Thon was held. This event is a one hour free for all to see how many times you can run all the way up and down the stairs. It’s a four floor building. Friends and family can sponsor you per lap, with proceeds going to support the Worcester YWCA Day Break program. I completed 37 laps, two better than last year and am still very sore. After the run, Hillel sponsored a bagel brunch for runners and spectators, some of whom support their friends with inspirational signs. It’s always a fun event.
Last night, I went to see a regional hockey rivalry. Worcester Sharks vs. Providence Bruins. Providence won, but it was still a good time. There was a great fight during the first period (see picture). Two of my friends caught t-shirts during the breaks. Unlike many other games, when it’s only Worcester fans, a lot of Providence fans drove up to watch the game, so there was a better environment for neutrals.
I just got back from watching Clark’s production of “the Vagina Monologues.” It was my first time seeing it. Some of my friends were in it and did great jobs with their monologues. The Vagina Monologues are the final event as part of V-Week, and all proceeds go to charity. I could tell all of the hard work that went into it. It was certainly thought provoking.
I’m going to go read about the Middle East and make a list of things to accomplish before Spring Break (after this week!).
Have a good one,
Jeremy
