Spree Day and Men’s Tennis Game

Hey everyone,

It was Spree Day this Tuesday. The date is kept as a secret from most of the students. You will receive an email in the morning telling you the good news that all classes are canceled for the day and that there are activities and concerts. Your RA will probably knock on your door at 5 am in the morning to surprise you too. I woke up pretty early this year and waited in line at around 7:30am to get the free t-shirt. The spree day committee gave the first 100 people a designed spree day shirt as a tradition. The color of the shirt was orange this year, and it has the word “Spree Day 2009” on the front. It was raining on Tuesday morning so all the events were moved into the gym instead of the green. But that did not influence the fun of the activities. The cafeteria provided free breakfast and lunch featuring picnic food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and corns. “Guster” was the main band this year and they attracted a huge crowd. The atmosphere was even better in the gym than on the green as it was dark only with music rocking and rolling, and people dancing. After the concert, I went to my friend’s room and watched the movie “Changeling”. It was a fun and relaxing day.

I went to men’s tennis game with Babson College on Friday afternoon. Babson has one of the best tennis teams in the neighboring schools, and ranks the second in NEWMAC (The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference). It was cold and windy, but players still had a great performance. Even though they lost to the Babson team, they showed me great cooperation in the doubles, some good shots and the spirit of persevering in the singles match. I have been to a few matches last year and two this year, the team is constantly improving. They also showed me a strong feeling of teamwork. I am thinking about learning tennis during the summer and hopefully I can join play to a decent level next year. If you are interested in knowing more about the team, please feel free to check out the website www.clarku.edu/athletics.cfm, or email Coach Cahoon at mCahoon@clarku.edu. My friend Rocco Li who is the captain of the team has also been meeting with many prospective players recently. So remember when you visit Clark University for any type of sports or activities that you can always say hi to the coach or to any of the players. The school would be happy to give you some network. I heard from Rocco that some prospective students would stay-over night with one of the guys. This would be the first step in making your first friend in college which I think is awesome.

Here are some pictures of spree day and the tennis game,
