Glow Dance, Sex Fest and Milan Vodopivec

This weekend a lot of students went home for Easter and Passover, but there were still events going on.  On Saturday night, the Asian Culture Society hosted a “Glow Dance” in the Grind.  I had never been to a glow dance, but apparently it is when everybody wears glow sticks and other glow-paraphernalia.  It looked really cool in the dark with everybody moving around.  See the picture for evidence!  Earlier in the night, Clark VOX (Voices for Planned Parenthood, I think) hosted the annual Sex Fest in Tilton Hall.  This event is all about STI prevention, fun, games and music.  The proceeds for admission are being contributed to the construction of a new Planned Parenthood facility near campus.  The theme was “Sex and Candy”, based on the 1997 Marcy Playground hit, so there was plenty of candy to be eaten.dscn0026-glow-scene.jpg  dscn0033-sign-for-glowdance.jpgdscn0020-sexfest.jpg

Last night I went to hear Milan Vodopivec speak.  He works for the World Bank and hails from Slovenia.  The topic was Unemployment in Developing Countries.  I am neither an International Development or Economics major, so it was interesting to learn about a completely unknown topic.  His case study took place in Sri Lanka and focused on reasons for such high unemployment rates among educated people. dscn0039-lecture.jpg

The weather is very nice right now, so people are generally in good moods despite the onslaught of final papers and exams that are around the corner.  I hope to see some of you soon for Admitted Students weekend.  There are lots of good events meant to show you what it means to go to Clark.  As always, feel free to e-mail me with any questions about Clark.
