Enjoying Fall with CUGA

The fall leaves are turning and the Clark campus is vibrant with color and liveliness. Therefore, I have tried to enjoy some free time with some outside adventures around the Clark Campus…

For those of you, like me until a few weeks ago, who had no clue about geocaching, it is a treasure hunt game using GPS coordinates to locate a hidden treasure. Before you begin your geocaching adventure you go to this website: www.geocaching.com/ and find areas near you that have Geocaching spots. Then you grab some friends, a GPS and some ‘treasure’ and you are ready to begin your adventure. As part of the club CUGA, Clark Undergraduate Geography Association, my friends Brenna, Boyd and I, enjoyed an afternoon geocaching around Worcester. We followed our first GPS coordinates to a Geocach located in Crystal Park, which is a Park right across the street from the Clark University Campus. It was exciting to find my first ever geocach!

The hidden treasure was in a film canister and inside was a piece of paper for us to sign our names and a treasure in the form of a Clark University card. We took the treasure and replaced it with our own, a gem of a cow jumping over the moon. After this we ventured on to another geocach at Coe’s Reservoir. This one was a little more difficult to find and ended up being a multi-cach, in which the first treasure gave us more coordinates to continue the search.

Since we enjoyed geocaching so much, we are thinking about starting a geocach location on the Clark Campus!

CUGA also sponsored an annual apple picking event. Luckily, we had great weather and enjoyed Sunday morning picking, eating and admiring all the delicious apples.

I had the delight of taking home an assortment of apples and since then I have been busy making apple treats. I found this website www.applerecipes.us/ that gives all sorts of fun recipes using apples. Also CUGA is in the works of planning a faculty-student event this fall in which students and professors would come together to play an ultimate Frisbee game.
There is a lot to look forward to in the next coming week, so stay tuned for insight into new adventures around campus and updates on the fall and winter sports seasons. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has been working hard to bring new events and spirit to the Clark Campus. I will update you on this in my next post. Until then enjoy and have a Happy Halloween!
