Winter Break at Clark

It has been a while since I last posted, hope everyone had a great holidays and a happy new year. For most students in college, during the holidays, they enjoy a month long winter break but for those that play a winter sport they get a few days off and then are on campus practicing and playing. Since I am on the Women’s basketball team I had to return to campus on Dec.28th. There are no classes during break, therefore most days were filled with Basketball practice and hanging out with teammates. We filled our time outside of basketball with team dinners, volunteering, watching movies and hanging out.

Since a few of the girls on the team live near Worcester we were able to go to their house and have a home cooked meal. Over break we had a game at Eastern Connecticut and after the game we got to have dinner at my house. My dog Duncan loved the company and the food my teammates snuck him. A few of my teammates and I went out to local restaurants over break. One of our favorite places to go is Da Lat (a Vietnamese restaurant). We also tried out Nancy Changs (Asian Cuisine) for the first time. (If you are interested in finding out more about restaurants in Worcester, stay tuned for my future restaurant blog).

Team Dinner

We also spent some time volunteering at the Boys and Girls club, which is located right down the street from Clark. One night we helped serve dinner to the kids and hung out with them. A few of us got stuck with dish duty (luckily not me). Another night some of the girls helped coach and referrer basketball games. Some of the kids from the Boys and Girls club have supported us at our games!

There always seems to be a lot of movies that come out around the holidays but I had to see the most raved about movie, Avatar. Thanks to a few teammates they convinced me to go see the movie in IMAX. There is an IMAX theater located in Natick, Ma, about a half hour drive from Clark (www.jordansimax.com/). It was my first time going to an IMAX theater and I absolutely loved it! We also watched a few movies at my apartment; of course we watched Love and Basketball.

A few weeks on campus with out the whole student body was enough for me and I am glad the rest of campus is back. Classes have begun and the pace of campus life has picked up… The last semester of my senior year is here and is in full swing…
