Nathalia Vega
Hey everyone! My name is Nathalia Vega and I’m currently a sophomore majoring in Government with a minor in Economics. I’m an international student from El Salvador, which is also known as the “Tom Thumb of the Americas”. I was born and raised in the tiny city of San Salvador. I went to high school at an International British Academy back home. This was a real challenge because, I did the IB Program (International Baccalaureate), which made me realize that I wanted to pursue my higher education under a more global rather than local perspective. I wanted to experience other cultures, be active, and change the world.
Hence, Clark was the perfect fit for me. Attracted by Clark’s internationality and a large sense of community involvement I decided to come here. Even though it seems that it took more time than what I expected to get use to Clark as my new home, I can say I’m the walking proof that Clark grows incredibly on every single one of us.
Coming from such a tiny country in Central America I came to Clark University and I was amazed by such an open and diverse environment. There are people from all over the world! I have friends from many parts of the globe: Pakistan, Venezuela, Spain, Ecuador and Peru and they are all awesome. As for my extra-curricular activities I’m the vice-president of UNICEF Club in Clark, part of the e-board of LASO (Latin American Student Organization) and member of Clark’s Dance Society. I’m also a Global Scholar (GSP) involved in community service projects and take part in GSP academic panels. The panel’s raise awareness and understanding of different issues of global significance. Some of the topics covered by the group of GSP’s have been human trafficking, illegal arms trade, HIV/AIDS, immigration and gang violence. Being an international student at Clark has been a great experience. I’m so excited I finally get to be a sophomore, come back to my friends and meet more and interesting people! Feel free to e-mail me at anytime at nvegadalton@clarku.edu.
